Greetings,

Well, I think we finally worked out all the kinks with our newsletter. One thing we learned was that trying to put out an issue every month was unrealistic. So, from now on we will attempt to publish on an every other month basis. Of course, even that is not guaranteed, but what do you expect for free?

If you have any articles you would like to us to include or items you would like us to research, just let us know.

In this issue:
  • Breaking News....
  • A message from Lisa
  • Charity requests and disclosure laws
  • Thought you would like to know...
  • Employee Profile
  • On the Lighter Side
  • Staff E-Mail Addresses

  • A message from Lisa
    Lisa

Last week I attended the Washington State Fire Administrative Support Division Conference in Chelan. I enjoyed seeing and visiting with those of you who were there and I made some new friends too. Thank you to Barbara Butner at the City of Arlington Fire Department for inviting me to be a part of the conference.--Lisa Rogalsky, Billing Services Supervisor

    Charity requests and disclosure laws
    Man-Crazy Grin

At the Washington State Fire Administrative Support Division Conference, during a Q&A period of a law seminar, the topic of requesting documentation and investigating the charity requests came up. The attorneys in attendance at the head table felt that to require income documentation could put you at risk of violating the recent disclosure laws. The recommendations of both attorneys on the board was to have your patients sign an affidavit rather than send in supporting documentation. So, if you are requiring back up financial documentation, be sure to run it by your department's legal counsel.

At the March 23rd meeting of the Rotary Club of Silverdale, we were honored to receive the 2006 Business Ethics Exemplar Award. Our corporate motto from day one has been 'Do The Right Thing'. While it may seem simple, it is the philosophy we try to apply to every situation. I am very proud that all our employees take this motto seriously. I know that our business has been successful because of it.

    On the Lighter Side
    Surgeon

An older gentleman was on the operating table awaiting surgery and he insisted that his son, a famous surgeon, perform the operation.

As he was about to get the anesthesia, he asked to speak to his son.

    "Yes Dad, what is it?"

"Don't be nervous son. Do your best and just remember, if it doesn't go well, if something happens to me...your mother is going to have to move in with you and your wife...."
