Systems Design was established in 1989 as a software company specializing in medical practice management systems. The first product, Medical Management System (MMS) was developed in conjunction with a Family Practice provider to fill the gap between the large clinic based systems and the low end, featureless systems.

In 1990, Professional Office Management System (POMS) was developed to offer a practice management system specifically designed for the therapy environment.

Both MMS and POMS continue to be enhanced, with emphasis placed on ease of use and efficiency in processing. Because of the efficiencies in the system, office personnel are able to get through the routine duties each day and spend more time in following up old accounts and working collections.

1991 was the year Systems Design expanded its horizon by signing a contract to provide ambulance billing services to the City of Bremerton Fire Department in Washington state. Because of our extensive background in medical billing, it was a natural extension of the business. Utilizing our own software, we are able to provide billing services to ambulance providers less expensively than they can do it in-house. It has been our experience in every case where we've taken over billing for an ambulance provider who was doing their own billing that we have saved them money and improved collections!

Systems Design was founded by Roger A. Zegers, who has an extensive background in software development, user interfaces and accounting systems. Before starting Systems Design, he spent 12 years at KPS Health Plans, a local medical insurance company, as well as a few years at the City of Hope Medical Center in Duarte, California.

Systems Design is located in Silverdale, Washington on the beautiful Olympic Peninsula. For those not familiar with our geography, look for Seattle, then hop on a ferry to get to our neck of the woods.
